Pick n ° 6 of the 2015 draft, Cauley-Stein has never been able to find his place in a lasting way in the NBA. However, he had had a good rookie season with the Kings, to the point of being named to the All-Rookie Second Team in 2016. But after a few decent seasons on the side of Sacramento, in particular two with more than 10 points on average between 2017 and 2019, its level has gradually declined. Passed by the Warriors, the Mavericks and the Sixers, he has not played a single game in the NBA since March 2022. Last season, he posted an average of 8.8 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.5 against with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, the Rockets’ G-League team.
After 442 games in the Big League, and obviously without an offer from an NBA franchise, Cauley-Stein has therefore decided to try his luck in Europe, where he hopes to revive his career and regain his best level.. He will have a lot to do in a Varese team that narrowly avoided relegation to Lega B last season. Hopefully, we’ll see him send those kind of dirty posters again.
