Former President Alejandro Toledo began the journey that will end with his return to Peru, in order to be tried for the crimes he is accused of in the case of bribery for the implementation of the Interoceanic Highway.

This followingnoon, the former president boarded a Latam airline flight at San Francisco International Airport, which will take him first to LAX, the main air terminal in Los Angeles.

From there, Toledo Manrique will transfer to another ship from the same company, which will take him to the Jorge Chávez international airport in Peru.

The former president arrived at the San Francisco air terminal in a wheelchair carried by a police officer in civilian clothes.

In addition to wearing a green jacket, similar to the one that characterized him during the 2000 presidential campaign, Toledo appeared disheveled and covering his hands with a blanket.

The former head of state is expected to arrive in Peru tomorrow, between 7:00 and 7:30. [Fuente: Andina]
