Former President of the United States Donald Trump (2017-2021) this Sunday thanked the support received from the governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, after his withdrawal from the Republican primaries and attacked the only rival remaining in the race, Nikki Haley.

“We are honored by the endorsement of Governor Ron DeSantis and so many other former Republican candidates,” the former president’s campaign said in a statement.
The former president’s team added that “now is the time for all Republicans to unite around Trump” to defeat the current president, Joe Biden, and his “disastrous presidency.”

The Trump campaign also attacked its only opponent within the Republican Party, Nikki Haley, whom it called a “candidate of the globalists and the Democrats.”
Subsequently, Trump made a surprise visit to a team of campaign volunteers in New Hampshire and stated that the derogatory nickname he until now used against the governor, ‘DeSanctimonious’ (prude), is “officially retired.”
Ron DeSantis announced this Sunday by surprise that he was abandoning the primaries due to his poor results and gave his support to Trump, with only two days left until the key event in New Hampshire.
The governor of Florida said he supports Trump, the big favorite in the internal process, to prevent “the old Republican guard” from returning, which Nikki Haley represents in his trial.
DeSantis, governor of Florida since 2019 and representative of the hard wing of the party, launched his candidacy in May 2023, when polls placed him as the only one capable of beating Trump in the primaries, but his campaign has been deflating until now.
In the Iowa caucus on January 15, the first meeting of the Republican race, De Santis achieved second place, behind Trump and ahead of Haley, who was the US ambassador to the UN between 2017 and 2018.
However, polls put him in third place, well behind his two rivals, in the key New Hampshire primary, which will be held next Tuesday.
Although Trump is the big favorite in the primaries, Nikki Haley has thrown herself into the campaign in New Hampshire to close the gap and establish herself as the alternative to
Trump within the party.
