A former school principal and his wife appeared before the Verviers criminal court on Thursday for acts of morals, denounced by a woman now in her thirties. The former director of the school of Bullage would have made 16 victims. For 13 of them, the facts are prescribed. These were revealed in 2017 following a complaint filed by a victim. “It was after a hypnosis session that the victim, who felt a deep malaise, remembered the facts. She then filed a complaint. During the investigation, the testimonies of other people were collected. They all evoke the same modus operandi”said the public prosecutor.
The children benefited from private lessons given by this cultured couple appreciated by the whole village. The facts described by the victims, kisses and caresses, generally took place in the couple’s swimming pool or in the couple’s cellar.
The king’s prosecutor demanded a five-year prison sentence for the two defendants. “The wife knew very well what was going on. She played an active role since she was often the one who told the children where to go.” She also imposed sexual violence on a young boy, added the prosecutor.
For its part, the defense strongly contested the facts and demanded the couple’s acquittal. She notably questioned the therapist who practiced the hypnosis session following which the complaint was filed. She also underlined the good relations maintained by the couple with the inhabitants of the village, including the family of the victim who lodged a complaint.
The court will deliver its judgment on May 26.
