Former CIO of Swiss Mobiliar, Thomas Kühne will lead CSS IT. He replaces Patrick Frank who was recently appointed CIO of Helsana.
Health insurance CSS has appointed Thomas Kühne as Head of Division ICT, Data & Operational Excellence. He replaces Patrick Frank who will take over as Head of IT at Helsana. New IT director of CSS, Thomas Kühne also comes from the sector, since he was CIO of Mobiliar from 2019 until last December.
To sum up: Renato Premezzi is leaving Credit Suisse to head up Swiss Mobiliar’s IT. He replaces Thomas Kühne who will therefore lead CSS IT. The latter replaces Patrick Frank who will lead Helsana’s IT.
Thomas Kühne has extensive experience in the field. He notably worked in IT at Crédit Suisse then UBS as executive director of the domain from 2006 to 2013. He then joined the insurer Zurich where he held the position of COO for Zurich Life Switzerland and CIO of Zurich Germany Group. Thomas Kühne studied computer science at ETHZ and holds an MBA from INSEAD.
As Head of the ICT, Data & Operational Excellence division of CSS, Thomas Kühne will be responsible for further automating processes and digitizing the workplace of the health insurance fund, explains the spokesperson for the Group to ICTjournal. As a member of the management, he will work in particular with Michael Rieger, Head of the Strategy & Corporate Services Division and with Rudolf Bruder, new Head of the Finance Division.
The appointment of Thomas Kühne is subject to official approval by the FOPH and FINMA.
