Formula 1 | Verstappen will have to change a part of his engine

Red Bull may have to change parts of Max Verstappen’s power unit ahead of the Hungarian GP on Sunday.

“It was a mechanical problem,” confirmed Dr Helmut Marko, following Verstappen qualified just tenth at the Budapest circuit on Saturday.

“On his second attempt he didn’t have the full power of the engine at his disposal. We think we know what it is.”

“The exchange of this part is possible without penalty. We will confirm all this on Sunday morning. But a result like this here in Singapore or Monte Carlo is exactly what you don’t want.”

It remains to be seen what rise Verstappen will be able to make.

“I think a podium is realistic without a few nudges up front.”
