Fortnite: Epic Games offers a new studio, ahead of the music!

News business Fortnite: Epic Games offers a new studio, ahead of the music!

Epic Games has long announced plans to continue to expand. Through the deployment of the Epic Games Store, first of all, the continued development of game engines, of course, and the purchase of studios.

After having acquired Mediatonic and therefore Psyonix (Rocket League) or ArtStation, Epic Games just announced the acquisition of the Harmonix Music Systems studio, the studio to which we owe FUSER, Rock Band or Dance Central, and which has contributed to the success of Guitar Hero. According to a publication available on the studio’s official website, this acquisition will have no impact on current projects what are the follow-up of Rock Band 4 and FUSER support.

Where the matter becomes more intriguing is that the studio indicates that his job will now be to create musical adventures and gameplay for Fortnite. The battle royale, which already regularly hosts concerts, will therefore visibly take an even closer interest in music. Obviously, we do not yet know how all this will translate into the game, but the studio, in business for 26 years, says he is very excited.

Great news for the Harmonix team today as it has just been announced that we are joining the Epic Games family. It’s a monumental day for the team, and one that wouldn’t have been possible without years of support from you, so thank you to our fans! Over the past 26 years, we’ve strived to redefine the way people experience and interact with music.

From the early days of The Ax to Guitar Hero, Rock Band, Dance Central, our titles VR, FUSER and everything in between, we’ve strived to redefine what a musical game can be. Now, we’re going to be working with Epic to challenge expectations once again, as we bring our music-playing experience to the Metaverse, and we couldn’t be more excited.

Epic obviously communicated on this repurchase, through‘Alain Tascan, vice-president of Game Development at Epic Games:

Music already brings millions of players to Fortnite through our emotes, concerts and other events. Together with the Harmonix team, we will transform the musical experience of players from passive listening to active participation.
