“Tonight, in the sector called Páramo de La Negra, between La Grita (Táchira) and the border with the town of Tovar, in the state of Mérida, 16 people were found in perfect health,” the governor said in a statement. an audio sent to journalists.

Thus, the local president pointed out that there are 16 people who “were praying in a spiritual retreat”, despite the fact that local media reported a number of missing persons greater than 30 people.

“People are safe and sound,” the governor reiterated while celebrating the discovery of the citizens.

In addition, he congratulated the Corps of Scientific, Penal and Criminalistic Investigations (Cicpc), Táchira Civil Protection and the security agencies in the area for their work during “the last few days” in the “high mountain area” of the border region with Colombia.

The group went on August 22 to a religious retreat in the state of Táchira to take refuge in the mountains “due to the end of the world,” police sources told local media.
