Four AUM Men’s Soccer Players Earn All-GSC Honors Led by Buhrkuhl

Auburn University at Montgomery placed four players on the 2026 Gulf South Conference Men’s Soccer All-Conference teams, led by First Team selections goalkeeper Jakob Buhrkuhl and defender Alan De Paula, following a regular-season campaign that secured the Warhawks a share of the league title and the No. 2 seed in the tournament.

Jakob Buhrkuhl earned First Team All-GSC recognition after starting 14 matches and logging over 1,200 minutes between the posts for the Warhawks. He posted a 10-2-2 record while conceding only 11 goals, translating to a 0.79 goals-against average that ranks second in the conference and 25th nationally. Buhrkuhl turned away 46 shots for an .807 save percentage, placing him third in the GSC and 20th across the country, while his eight shutouts lead the conference.

Joining him on the First Team, Alan De Paula served as the only player on the roster to start all 16 matches of the regular season. De Paula contributed three goals and one assist, converting three of his nine total shots into goals for a .333 shot percentage. Two of those strikes stood as game-winners, tying him for sixth in the GSC. Beyond his scoring contributions, De Paula anchored a defensive unit that allowed just 13 goals all season, achieving a 0.81 goals-against average that sits 23rd nationally alongside eight clean sheets.

Luke Butcher claimed Second Team All-GSC honors after appearing in 10 matches with nine starts prior to sustaining a season-ending injury. Despite the limited window, Butcher notched one goal and one assist on his lone shot of the year while reinforcing the formidable Warhawks back line.

On the attacking front, Benjamin Hoffmann secured Second Team recognition by pacing the AUM offense. Hoffmann started 15 of his 16 appearances, racking up a team-leading six goals and two assists for 14 points. His 56 total shots and 26 shots on target both ranked third in the Gulf South Conference, capped by a crucial game-winning goal against Delta State.

Player GSC Team Position Key Statistics

Benjamin Hoffmann Second Team Forward 6 goals, 2 assists, 56 total shots

The collective output of these four All-Conference selections propelled AUM to a 10-2-3 overall record and a 7-1-2 mark in conference play, earning the program a share of the Gulf South Conference regular-season championship. Entering the postseason as the No. 2 seed, the Warhawks opened tournament action with a victory over seventh-seeded Christian Brothers in the quarterfinals.

AUM now travels to Huntsville, Alabama, for the semifinal round of the Gulf South Conference Championship. The Warhawks are scheduled to face sixth-seeded West Alabama on Thursday, November 5, at 6 p.m., with a spot in the conference title match on the line.
