While Emmanuel Macron wants employers and employee organizations to agree on a “Working Life Pact” by the end of the year, the four-day week that wins the votes across the Channel can it be a serious track in France?

In England, where an experiment was carried out between June and December 2022 with 3,000 employees in the private sector, the conclusion was positive, according to researchers from Cambridge and Boston who studied it. At the end of the test, 56 of the 61 organizations chose to maintain the system and the employees proved to be “less stressed” and more productive. The rules are clear: the employee receives 100% of his salary and takes on the same workload as before, but on fewer days.
