Four Dead, Including Two Children, in Zamora Car Crash

Four people, including two adults and two children, died on Sunday afternoon in a single-vehicle traffic collision on a provincial road in the province of Zamora, emergency services reported.

The fatal crash occurred at approximately 1:45 p.m. local time on the ZA-P-2314 highway at kilometer 16, within the municipal boundaries of Malva, according to the 112 emergency service of Castilla y León. An initial alert reported three individuals injured and trapped inside the automobile, prompting a rapid response from medical personnel and a dispatched medical helicopter.

Upon arrival, medical responders confirmed that all four occupants of the vehicle had died at the scene. Municipal and Guardia Civil sources told the EFE news agency that the incident took place on a straight stretch of the roadway. For reasons still under investigation, the passenger car veered off the road to the right and struck a concrete culvert.

Unidentified Victims and Local Response

Authorities have not yet released the identities of the four deceased occupants. Residents of Malva, a small village of roughly 90 inhabitants, told EFE that the wrecked vehicle did not belong to anyone in the community.

The crash site lies on the connecting route between Malva and the neighboring municipality of Aspariegos, which has a population of about 220. Local residents from Aspariegos also failed to identify the car as belonging to anyone in their town. The route sits geographically between the Alfoz de Toro and the Tierra del Pan comarcas in Zamora.

Investigators from the Guardia Civil continue to examine the straight stretch of the provincial highway to determine what caused the vehicle to leave the asphalt.
