The Corps of Scientific, Penal and Criminalistic Investigations (Cicpc), arrested four doctors, who performed a cesarean section and allegedly for having carried out medical malpractice in a hospital in the state of Trujillo.

The doctors, two residents and two specialists, were in the surgical intervention last Monday night and when using the scalpel they caused a head injury to the baby. The action endangered the child’s life when he was not yet born.

It was unofficially known that the newborn’s father filed the complaint with the authorities. So the authorities immediately opened an investigation that ended in the arrest of the four medical professionals.

It was learned that two of the doctors involved in the event, a resident and a specialist, already had an investigation into reports of cases of deceased newborns. The authorities have not yet revealed the identity of the four doctors.

The regional government authorities are investigating why they performed operations in the operating room of the Valera University Hospital and since when this irregular situation has occurred. The doctors were arrested and placed under the order of the Public Ministry (MP).
