On the followingnoon of January 22, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Trong – Chairman of the People’s Committee of Ea Hiao commune (Ea Hleo district, Dak Lak province) confirmed that there had just been a drowning incident in the locality that killed 4 female students.

According to Mr. Trong, on the same followingnoon, 6 female students of Hoang Hoa Tham Primary and High School (identity unknown) invited each other to go to school to practice performing arts. However, these 6 students went to a lake near the school to play, and 4 female students went into the lake to bathe. A few minutes later, four students slipped into a deep puddle.
At this time, two students who were traveling together discovered it, so they called for someone to come rescue them. However, all four female students did not survive.
“Currently, the local government is coordinating with the authorities to visit and encourage the victims’ families,” Mr. Trong said.
Ea Hleo district police and related units are continuing to examine the scene and clarify the cause.
