Four injured police officers leave explosive attack in Tibú, Norte de Santander

A police patrol was attacked with explosives in Tibu, North Santander. In the event, four uniformed officers were injured, as was an anti-explosive canine, although none were seriously injured, according to the commander of the Norte de Santander Police, Colonel John Robert Chavarro.

“Two uniformed officers were stunned and another two by shrapnel, that do not register, thank God, any gravity. A canine, Mila, from anti-explosives was also affected,” the officer told Noticias Caracol.

This fact is attributed by the authorities to the FARC dissidents, because it would be a retaliation for the capture of Yerson Camargo Contreras, alias Salchichónalleged member of GAOR-E33.

According to the authorities, this man planned and executed attacks on the official armed forces in this border area of ​​the country. In addition, in the raid that he carried out during his arrest on Monday, They seized a 40 mm grenade and ammunition of various calibers.

A recent act of intimidation by this residual armed group has already occurred in Tibú, which went viral on July 14, when some armed members they patrolled near the municipal hall and greeted the inhabitants that circulated in the area.

The attack on the patrol occurred just a week after in the same municipality -located on the border with Venezuela- a policeman was killed by a sniper who attacked him while he was on sentinel.

Likewise, it adds to the attacks that have been taking place in the country against the public force and that have claimed the lives of more than 50 policemen so far this year.
