Fourteenth Arab Conference on Space and Astronomy Sciences: Exploring the Latest Research and Innovations

Sharjah, October 20 / WAM / Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah, the university will host the activities of the “Fourteenth Arab Conference on Space and Astronomy Sciences”, during the period from 13 to 16 next November, and organized by the Arab Union. Space and Astronomy Sciences, in cooperation with the University of Sharjah and the Sharjah Academy for Space and Astronomy Science and Technology.

The conference, which witnesses the attendance and participation of a number of scientists, researchers, interested parties and graduate students from all over the world, discusses the latest scientific and technical research, studies and explorations.

It aims to provide opportunities for scientists and researchers to meet to exchange experiences, support communication, and increase opportunities for cooperation in the research, scientific, artistic, and educational fields. It will be held in person at the university and via social media platforms.

His Excellency Professor Dr. Hamid Majoul Al Nuaimi, Director of the University, stressed the importance of the conference, which is an opportunity and platform for specialists and officials in institutes and research centers to meet in a hybrid stimulating environment to exchange ideas and discuss the latest scientific developments and innovations.

He pointed out that the conference will discuss, through several scientific sessions and lectures, solid scientific research, which includes the fields of astronomy, astrophysics, and space physics on the topics of the universe and its components of celestial bodies, in addition to sessions of specialized workshops to discuss the latest findings of scientists in remote sensing technology and observation and observation of the Earth from Outer space, the physics of the sun, solar activities and their impact on the atmosphere, and the Arab scientific heritage in astronomy and the atmosphere.

He added that exhibitions will be held for astronomical devices and observatories and the activities of astronomical societies in the Arab world, stressing the university’s readiness to host the conference and provide the appropriate climate for participants to support communication and increase opportunities for cooperation in the research, scientific, artistic, and educational fields.

For his part, Dr. Hussein Al-Mahdi, Dean of Academic Support Services and Head of the Conference Organizing Committee, added that the committee received more than 300 scientific submissions, and 170 of them were accepted after evaluating them according to recognized scientific principles. They are distributed around the conference’s axes that focus on astronomy and astrophysics. And space sciences and technologies, which include space and astronomical missions, space applications and technologies, global satellite navigation systems, space exploration and innovation, in addition to the axis of astronomy in Arab and Islamic cultures, such as lunar calendars and astronomical phenomena and events.

He added that an elite group of scientists will participate in the conference as key speakers, including scientists and heads of space and astronomy centers in the UAE, China, and the International Astronomical Union. 25 researchers and amateurs will also be hosted, representatives of the Arab Astronomical Domes Society, explaining that a number of educational activities will be held on the sidelines of the conference. Dedicated to school students and a package of diverse cultural and social activities, along with field trips to the most important historical and tourist attractions in the country.
