“All in all, Green Minister Rauch did not take advantage of the opportunity to create a real incentive for longer working hours, but rather wasted it!”

Vienna (OTS) “The idea that people who want to be able to stay in the work process longer is fundamentally a noble goal. However, the implementation is inadequate and poorly thought out, so that this goal will ultimately not be achieved,” commented the liberal social spokesperson and club chairman NAbg today. Dagmar Belakowitsch presented the draft law in the plenary session of the National Council.

“The new law essentially consists of two parts. Employees who work beyond the statutory retirement age now receive a higher bonus. That is positive. “For the other area that this law affects, namely people who already receive a pension and perhaps want to help out in the company on a part-time basis, for example in nursing or catering, this draft law is not very satisfactory,” said Belakowitsch. Although they would not have to pay pension contributions now, they would have to pay unemployment insurance and would receive a tax bill at the end of the year. “That is not very attractive and will probably deter many people from continuing to work in retirement,” says Belakowitsch.

“Smoke has made a mess here. For pensioners who have been under our system for many years, there is no satisfactory solution that makes it worthwhile to continue working. All in all, Rauch didn’t take advantage of the opportunity to create an incentive for longer working hours, but rather missed it again!” Belakowitsch stated.
