Many unanswered questions indicate the continuation of the green minister’s energy policy ghost drive

Vienna (OTS) Sharp criticism was voiced today by FPÖ energy and economics spokesman NAbg. MMMag. dr Axel Kassegger on Green Energy Minister Gewessler’s plans to nationalize OMV’s gas division. “It is grossly negligent to go public with this idea without internal government coordination and above all without an overall strategy. Minister Gewessler is thus continuing her energy policy ghost tour. After all, OMV is the largest listed company with state participation,” said Kassegger.

This would leave many crucial questions unanswered: “What will happen to the company as a whole if the gas trading subsidiary OGMT is spun off? OMV is itself active in gas production, so who then takes over the trade? Answers to this are essential, but the green minister still owes them with this quick shot. That is irresponsible towards the Austrian taxpayers and also towards the probably hundreds of employees who are affected.” You cannot simply oblige a manufacturing company to simply handle the distribution of its products through another company.

Security of supply and affordability for the citizens must generally be at the forefront of all considerations in the field of energy policy. “The explosion in energy prices, which black and green are idly watching and even fueling, is burdening our domestic economy and destroying people’s hard-earned prosperity. Providing relief and affordable energy is therefore a core task of politics in times like these – and not taking half-baked quick shots!”, explained NAbg. MMMag. dr Axel Kassegger.
