FPÖ – Krauss: calls for help from Viennese schools go unheeded in the town hall

Wiederkehr’s inactivity has worsened the situation at educational institutions

Vienna (OTS) “The blatant shortage of teachers in Vienna can be attributed to the NEOS city councilor for education, Wiederkehr, who is completely overwhelmed in his department. For years we have known about the precarious situation in Vienna’s primary and secondary schools, but no real and, above all, sustainable measures have been taken. The calls for help made by the educational institutions must no longer remain unheard, action is urgently required before the new school year begins,” summarizes the education spokesman for the Viennese FPÖ, club chairman Maximilian Krauss.

Heads of elementary and middle schools report that one of the main problems is the lack of teachers, which is caused by the emigration to neighboring Lower Austria. But instead of considering how to make the teaching profession in Vienna so attractive, for example through a salary adjustment and free parking to prevent this, Education Director Himmer talks about the lack of staff in the best SPÖ manner and even claims that there is no such thing . “If Wiederkehr is not able or not willing to finally tackle and solve the problems in the Viennese schools, then he should at least have the size to step down and make room for someone who is technically sound. After all, this is about the cornerstone of training, which is future-oriented for children and young people,” concludes Krauss.
