Vienna’s SPÖ has been letting Naschmarkt go to waste for years

Vienna (OTS) With today’s topic of the day, the Krone is settling accounts with the SPÖ politics at the Naschmarkt. “One of the last two fruit and vegetable stands is about to close, souvenir and scrap stands as well as cheap gastro-tourist traps are displacing traditional businesses,” says FPÖ market spokesman LAbg. Toni Mahdalik, summarizing the sad report and referring to it together with the Mariahilfer FPÖ -District party chairman Leo Kohlbauer referred to the Freedom’s demands to save the Naschmarkt, which have been in place for years.

1) Expansion of the market on the open space opposite Preßgasse to include an Austrian culinary center with 10 stands offering regional products from the federal states and South Tyrol.
2) Realization of the so-called Naschmarkt Garage in the empty vault under Linke Wienzeile in order to combat the parking shortage.
3) Preservation of the flea market and parking lot in its current form
4) Redesign of the Chain Bridge with a meeting area as a new gateway to the Naschmarkt. No parking space would be lost here.
5) Ban on begging to enable undisturbed strolling and lingering in the market.
6) A subsidy for local farmers who sell their products on the Vienna markets. This would help reduce CO2 and promote the local economy.

“The SPÖ in the city and district has been blocking our demands to save the Naschmarkt for years,” says Kohlbauer angrily, reminding us that the Reds are responsible for the decline of the traditional market. “Parking spaces in the area are falling victim to the socialists’ blind hatred of cars, there has been no stop to the usury of stand fees and the lack of diversity due to an oversupply of restaurants and rag stands has never been regulated,” Kohlbauer further sums up the SPÖ’s failure.
“The Naschmarkt needs our package of measures now more than ever in order to remain a traditional local supplier for the future,” concluded Mahdalik and Kohlbauer.
