France Assos Santé has historically been mobilized in the face of worrying drug shortages, leading the contributions of associations and ensuring the relay with the public authorities. We participate, among other things, in the various ministerial steering committees set up since the end of 2019.

We deeply regret that we have recently been excluded from the work relating to the constitution from the list of essential medicines particularly awaited by our fellow citizens; we ask that France Assos Santé be associated with the evolution of this list which – for many actors – deserves to be corrected now.

We have sent the Ministry of Health our requests and proposals concerning future measures for some of these essential molecules, following the first announcements made by the President of the Republic on June 13.

We consider that future State incentives – which are financed by taxpayers – must necessarily be accompanied by unsurpassable conditionalities and counterparties; the concern and mobilization of all health players should not be used to lead to a blank check for manufacturers.

We recall our historic request to strengthen security stocks to better prevent shortages and limit the consequences for sick people.

The public or non-profit production of a small number of essential molecules currently subject to shortages deserves to be finally discussed.

Finally, we insist on the need and relevance of a strong and active France at European level to defend our national model and strengthen the essential European response.
