4.8% of the world’s millionaires are in France. According to the annual report on world wealth published on Tuesday by the UBS bank, France has a total of 2.8 million people on its territory with assets of more than one million dollars. Out of a total of 59.4 million millionaires in the world, France thus has 4.8% of them on its territory.

France now occupies third place in the world rankings, behind the United States and China. She overtook Japan, yet in third position since 2014, to climb the podium due to a loss of 466,000 millionaires in the Asian country compared to 2021.

According to forecasts made by UBS, the world should be home to 85 million millionaires on a planetary scale in 2027. Of this total, France should have more than four million millionaires on its soil by this date.

France 9th in the world ranking of the ultra-rich

Unlike many countries, the number of millionaires has increased in France. Between 2021 and 2022, 25,000 additional millionaires have been identified by the bank. Over the same period, however, the number of millionaires fell globally, with a loss of 3.5 million millionaires worldwide in one year.

In the world ranking of the ultra-rich, namely adults whose wealth is greater than 50 million dollars, France ranks only ninth, on the other hand. France has 3,890 ultra-rich on its land, compared to 123,870 in the United States, 32,910 in China and 9,100 in Germany.
