It was possible to obtain the theoretical driving license test by paying 250 to 600 euros.

The case began in May 2023 through information obtained by investigators from the community of brigades of Vesoul (east). According to this information, it was possible to obtain the theoretical driving license test by paying a sum ranging from 250 to 600 euros. The investigations made it possible to identify three inhabitants of Vesoul, who ran this network locally. They were taken into custody in mid-July and admitted their participation.

Around fifty fraudsters were identified locally and admitted to having illegally purchased car or motorcycle highway code. The investigation determined that an examination center located in Val-de-Marne validated all of these tests, i.e. some 1,400 nationally. The manager and sole employee was arrested and taken into police custody on Wednesday and admitted the facts with which he is accused.

The trafficking would have enabled him to acquire around 120,000 euros and a “large sum of money” was seized from his home, the gendarmes said. The affected center was immediately closed by the management of the Dekra company on Wednesday. The list of suspected fraudsters was sent by the public prosecutor to all the prefectures of France in order to withdraw the benefit of the exams and de facto the license of those who obtained it.
