Sources, who had the opportunity to see the content of the meeting between the head of the Marada Movement, Suleiman Franjieh, and the Saudi ambassador, Walid Bukhari, told the Kuwaiti newspaper, that the first was extremely transparent and frank in dealing with the presidential file and in his positions on all issues raised.

Sources close to Franjieh’s allies said that he was decisive in expressing his keenness on what he said were Saudi Arabia’s interests in Lebanon, “which is part of Lebanon’s interest, immunity, and immunity.”

The same sources revealed that Franjieh was reassured that if he reached the presidency, he would be keen to cooperate with the kingdom’s allies, who are basically part of the government, which cannot achieve any success without the cooperation of all.

The leader of the “Marada” seemed clear in his speech that neither he nor anyone else could be allowed to advance the country from its crises without Saudi Arabia’s support, presence, and standing by Lebanon, which should reciprocate its keenness on fraternal relations.

Franjieh went, according to the sources, to the extent of expressing his willingness to withdraw from the presidential contest in the event that Saudi Arabia had a negative position on it, and that he would not hesitate to support “any candidate you want.”

In a sort of frankness, the leader of the “Marada” was keen to tell Ambassador Bukhari that he was not the candidate of “Hezbollah” and the “Amal” movement, but rather the name that was most agreed upon by different circles. The same sources suggested that Ambassador Bukhari was very satisfied with the words that Franjieh said transparently and without equivocation, and his assertion that he had no hidden agenda.

Despite this atmosphere, monitoring circles in Beirut told Al-Rai that the matter has not changed the presidential scene “by an inch.” Saudi Arabia, which chose neutrality, is still adhering to its trilogy: no veto on anyone, no support for anyone, and no pressure on anyone.

In the assessment of these circles, the “warmth” shown by Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri to developments that are in the interest of Franjieh is exaggerated, and whoever observes Hezbollah’s deep approach to what the presidential labor is like realizes that the party is less optimistic than Berri.

These circles believed that Riyadh, which gave up the “no” to candidates like Franjieh, certainly did not say “yes”, and therefore the ball is in the court of the local players who have not yet budged from their approaches to the pending merit.
