A road trip through the USA. It’s a dream of many people. Endless expanses, delicious (albeit sometimes greasy) food, adventure and action. Star chefs Frank Rosin, Alexander Kumptner and Ali Güngörmüş thought the same thing and went on a long journey through the United States for the Kabel 1 show “Roadtrip America”.
It goes without saying that a visit to Texas should not be missed on the way through the USA. To be more precise: their “road trip America” led Frank Rosin and Co. to the cowboy town of Bandera. There, the three chefs not only dressed like the heroes of the Wild West, but also wanted to offer their viewers a real Wild West show. After a visit to the rodeo and a more or less successful attempt to defeat an electric bull, we continued to San Antonio.

A task that the three top chefs set themselves, but failed brilliantly. While Ali Güngörmüş threw in the towel after licking the tip of the knife, Frank Rosin bravely bit into the meat roll and regretted it bitterly. The 56-year-old immediately had dizzy spells and stopped the challenge. The Rosins Restaurants legend spat the meat into a bucket it was so spicy.
“I can only express it in my Ruhr area language: You burn your face so badly. This has nothing to do with food at all. It’s pure masochism if you eat that. And that’s a pain I’ve never felt in my life. I get dizzy too. This goes straight into circulation. My whole palate is burned,” complains the star chef, who starts to sweat profusely shortly after eating, as colleague Güngörmüş notes.
