According to the Minister, an agreement exists within the government itself for a definitive reduction in VAT to 6% on gas and electricity. “Everyone is convinced that a rate of 21% is, for many reasons, indiscriminate and unfair“, declared the leader of the Flemish left at the federal level.
On the other hand, the 21% VAT will be replaced by an excise duty system which will operate more fairly.
This reduction in TV to 6% came into effect on March 1 to support families facing soaring gas and electricity prices. It was initially recorded until the end of 2022.
