FRANZ WEST PRIVATE: Great interest in private retrospectives | Hop

The collectors are now working with the Franz West Private Foundation on an exhibition catalog for autumn

Vienna (OTS) Around 300 visitors come to Weihburggasse 26 every day on the three opening followingnoons. Philipp Konzett, one of the four collectors, is delighted with the great interest in the internationally renowned artist Franz West. “Both Franz West-experts and amateurs find their way into our show, which shows his entire artistic spectrum with 400 works”.

Franz West – internationally respected, hidden in Austria

Since his death in 2012, the show by private collectors has been the most extensive that has been shown in Vienna for 11 years. Although West is one of the most important artists of the 20th century internationally, he tends to receive less attention in his home country. Konzett: “We see ourselves as a citizens’ initiative that protects Austrian art and, regardless of the mainstream, shows its importance for our social development and its influence.”

A catalog is now being prepared in cooperation with the Franz West Private Foundation, which will show the 400 objects in the retrospective and will be available from autumn.

The exhibition runs until April 22 at Weihburggasse 26, Thursday to Saturday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Outside the opening times, guided tours are possible. Contact: gallery@konzett.at
