Winston-Salem.- In Winston-Salem the local government maintains a special program to provide free fans to older adults or disabled people in this hot season.

Since July, Forsyth County implemented this initiative due to the high temperatures expected for the summer and currently there are still fans available.

Although summer is almost over, in the first days of September, temperatures of almost 100º have been recorded again in North Carolina.

When consulted by Qué Pasa, Tina Lewis, from the Department of Social Services, pointed out that the program continues because there are still ventilators to distribute.

“The program continues because we still have ventilators that can be requested by the population,” he explained.

He main requirement to order a fan is for it to be for a person’s home. person with a disability or an older adult.

Other county heat-related supports, such as the Crisis Intervention Program, remain available.

Lewis explained that to receive more information and apply for any of these supports, it is recommended to go to the Social Services offices.

The Forsyth County Social Services offices are located at 741 North Highland Avenue, east of downtown Winston-Salem.

According to Lewis, the delivery of ventilators will continue at least until those in stock are exhausted.

People interested in requesting information about the programs can call 336-703-3501.
