Freedom is a consequence of truth

Today more than ever we need to know the truth. We live in a society with so much confusion that it is difficult for us to distinguish between what is true and what is not.

Lying appears as common currency and those who practice it do so naturally and without any kind of remorse in relation to the consequences it causes. Therefore, the truth is permanently questioned. Deception appears everywhere. We want to believe that what they tell us is true, but when in doubt, we end up distrusting it.

The reality is that this has always happened, because we already know that history repeats itself. The same thing happened in ancient times, in times when Jesus lived. The context in the society of that time had characteristics similar to those of contemporary societies. For this reason, Jesus spoke of the truth and related it precisely to freedom. He said “the truth is what will set you free” (Saint John 8:31).

That truth to which he was referring was the truth of God: the authentic, the real, the one that has to do with goodness, with love, with peace, with justice and, especially, with freedom. That freedom that gives everyone the right to choose, to make decisions and also to express themselves and be able to relate to others.

That is why freedom is a fundamental right for human life, necessary to be practiced in all areas.

Daily living and the negative circumstances that human beings sometimes have to go through make them lose their true freedom. It is the freedom that will allow him to achieve the happiness that he desires so much. It is what God offers to all human beings. The one that is obtained from the knowledge of Him and the truth of him.

God does not think or act as the human being does, he does not deceive him. That is why his truth is authentic and is what allows us through it to achieve true freedom.

I believe that we need God’s truth for our lives in order to have that much-needed freedom, for ourselves, for our loved ones, and for the well-being of our nation. Meeting Him sets us free. God bless you.
