Reporters Without Borders presents the ranking for 2023: Last year’s crash in Austria has solidified in the “year of chat messages”. Globally, the environment for journalism is “poor” in seven out of ten countries.
Austria has moved up two places in the Press Freedom Index this year and is ranked 29th (out of 180 countries) by Reporters Without Borders (RSF). However, according to RSF Austria, this result is no reason to be happy, as Austria has clearly lost points (minus 3.81) in the political context of the evaluation and is ranked 39th.
