A 70-car train carrying hazardous materials derailed in North Dakota, in the northern region of the United States, with no reported casualties or significant property damage.

The accident occurred near the town of Wyndmere and no casualties have been reported. It is reported that 31 of the 70 wagons went off the track, recording leaks of material used in the production of asphalt.
Emergency crews are responding to a train derailment leaking hazardous material in a rural area of Richland County, southeast of Wyndmere.

Authorities have determined that the hazardous material is liquid asphalt, used in highway construction.
Thirty-one carriages of a Canadian Pacific Railway freight train derailed around 11:15 p.m. Sunday, according to CP spokesman Andy Cummings.
Cummings said Canadian Pacific emergency response teams, including hazmat experts, were on scene along with the Wyndmere fire chief and local first responders, to assess the incident.
Cummings says no injuries have been reported, there is no fire, and there are no nearby waterways. No evacuations have been ordered.
“There is no threat to public safety,” CP said in a statement.
“The safety of crews, lifeguards and the public remains our top priority.
Our hazmat experts are continuing with a full assessment of the incident in coordination with local first responders.”
Wyndmere is about 60 miles southwest of Fargo.
