Alexis Sanchez opened the scoring in favor of the Olympians on a penalty (31st), but Sergio Ramos put the teams level with a header, from a corner, just before the break (45th +2). In the second period, it was former Genk player Ruslan Malinovskyi who scored the winning goal for OM, with a cannon shot at the entrance to the area (57th).
This victory, Marseille’s first since 2011 against its Parisian rival, allows OM to reach the quarter-finals of the Coupe de France. Lyon, Toulouse, Grenoble, Rodez, Annecy and Nantes are among the teams already qualified and likely to challenge the Marseillais in the next round.
