From Monday: Boosters from all over the world are allowed to enter

Austria is relaxing entry regulations on Monday. As can be seen from the 12th amendment to the Covid-19 entry regulation published in the Federal Law Gazette on Wednesday evening, 14 Omicron pioneering countries will be removed from the list of virus variant areas. There are ten countries in southern Africa plus Denmark, the Netherlands, Norway and Great Britain. This means that third-party vaccinators will be able to enter Austria from all over the world without any conditions.

The reason for the easing is that Omicron is now the predominant virus variant in Austria. From Monday, the “2G +” entry regime will also apply to the previous virus variant countries. This means that Austria only lets vaccinated or recovered people into the country who can also present a negative PCR test. Anyone who has already had their third vaccination does not need to be tested. So far, only people with a third-party vaccination and a PCR test that is no more than 48 hours old have been allowed to enter Austria from virus variant areas.

The amendment also provides that the entry regulation, which was originally limited to 31 January, will be extended by a further month. The other provisions remain unchanged.
