From prison, Sabag Montiel spoke: “I pulled the trigger and it did not come out”

From prison and for the first time in contact with the production of a media outlet, Fernando Sabag Montiel, the accused of trying to kill Vice President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, expressed that he wanted to end the life of the former head of state in retaliation ” because of the situation in the country.

This Monday night, the Minuto 1 program, which is broadcast by the official channel C5N, aired the edited fragment of a communication with Sabag Montiel. In that audio, the accused of perpetrating the murder attempt on September 1st affirms “no” that he is sorry for what he did and confirmed that the weapon was loaded, but that, due to the nerves he experienced at the time of shooting, the bullet did not come out

“It (the weapon) was loaded, I pulled the trigger and the shot did not go out. The gun had five bullets. Then they planted bullets in my house. They put drugs saying that I was a drug addict. They are defenestrating, inflating an image, that I am not everything they say, ”he said, always according to the audio that the program hosted by the journalist Gustavo Silvestre aired.

And he continued with the explanation of the moment of the shot: “Imagine the nerves of being in a place, of pulling the slide, I pulled the bolt back and when I pulled the trigger the shot didn’t come out. Because among so much tumult, so many people, I was nervous ”.

Sabag Montiel also said that he acted alone and that Brenda Uliarte, his ex-girlfriend, another of those arrested in the case, has nothing to do with it. “I did it for motu proprio, do you understand? They are making up a story. I acted alone with respect to the attack. And I have the evidence here, Brenda Uliarte has nothing to do with it, ”she expanded.

Letter addressed to the prosecutor Luciani

In addition to his statements from jail, yesterday it was also learned that Sabag Montiel wrote a letter addressed to the prosecutor Diego Luciani, the same one who requested the conviction of Cristina Fernández for fraud in the Highway case.

There, Sabag Montiel tells the prosecutor that he is “kidnapped” by the vice president and by the judge in the case, María Eugenia Capuchetti. In addition, he points out that the right-wing group Revolución Federal had nothing to do with it and that the head of the Senate bribed Uliarte’s father so that no one would see him.

“I need other judges to intervene in the case, whether they are trusted, such as Andrés Basso, Jorge Gorini, Julián Ercolini. Thank you very much”, says the letter signed on March 3 in the Ezeiza prison and incorporated into the file last week.

It is not the first time that the detainee asks for Luciani. The day that the official defender Juan Martin Hermida visited him before the first investigation, Sabag Montiel claimed: “I love Luciani.”

It should be remembered that Basso and Gorini were the judges who, together with Rodrigo Giménez Uriburu, conducted the oral debate for the Highway Administration case and sentenced the vice president to six years in prison. Ercolini was the judge who instructed that investigation.

The new letter comes at a time when the investigators are finalizing the details to close the investigation and send Sabag Montiel, Uliarte, and Nicolás Gabriel Carrizo, the head of “los copitos,” to trial. The couple is accused of being the co-perpetrators of the attempted aggravated homicide. They face a possible sentence of 15 years in prison. Carrizo is pointed out as a secondary participant in the attack.
