Frost River accuses the production company of using one of its products without its permission and passing it off as another company’s product.

The case is in the bag for Indiana Jones. While the latest adventures of Harrison Ford in the shoes of the famous archaeologist struggle to conquer the world box office, the fifth part of the saga encounters a new obstacle, legal this one.

Frost River Corporation accuses Lucasfilm, producer of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, of using one of its bags in the film without its permission, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Frost River also claims that Lucasfilm passed off this bag as a competitor’s product during an campaign.

This case “concerns two behemoths exploiting the hard work and intellectual property of Frost River, a small American company”, can we read in the complaint filed Wednesday in federal court in California.

Lucasfilm had “no qualms”

According to Frost River, Indiana Jones and other characters can be seen with one of her bags during the film sequence set in Sicily. But Lucasfilm would have taken care to erase the distinctive signs making it possible to identify at first glance le “Geologist Pack”.

That’s not Frost River’s only grievance. Because Lucasfilm has partnered with another leather bag maker, Filson, to promote Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. According to the complaint, this campaign notably consisted of a one-minute video published on the Filson website and showing characters from the film wearing the “Geologist Pack”.

“A consumer visiting the Filson site is led to believe that the bags visible in Indiana Jones 5 are manufactured by Filson,” the complaint states.

“Indiana Jones (…) is known to steal precious artefacts. Like himself, Lucasfilm had no qualms about hijacking Frost River’s “Geologist Pack”, still squeaks the complainant company.
