Christian Fuchs scored his third goal of the season in the North American soccer league MLS in Charlotte FC’s away win against defending champions New York City FC. The 36-year-old scored a penalty in stoppage time to make it 3-1 (1-1). Charlotte currently ranks tenth in the Eastern Conference, within striking distance of the playoff spots.
The New York Red Bulls, coached by Gerhard Struber, meanwhile won 2-1 (2-0) at Atlanta United and clinched their first win after three games without a three-pointer. The Austrian’s team is currently in fourth place in the Eastern Conference. Alessandro Schöpf was substituted in his first start for the Vancouver Whitecaps during the break when the score was 2-0. The Canadians won 2-1 and are currently seventh in the Western Conference.
