Samsung presented the Galaxy S23 FE as its new “top affordable” cell phone for the Brazilian market this Friday (27). Bringing last year’s hardware in a body with a look inspired by the Galaxy S23, the new model succeeds the Galaxy S21 FE which, in turn, came after a great sales phenomenon, the Galaxy S20 FE.
Representing the third generation of the “Fan Edition” line, the new cell phone should face stiff competition with other top-of-the-line products designed with a focus on lower prices, such as the Edge 40 Neo and Xiaomi 12T, but it could also be a threat to significantly more expensive models. expensive, like the iPhone 15.

Screen and design
The Galaxy S23 FE brings few changes to its screen compared to its predecessor, so we still have a 6.4-inch display with Dynamic AMOLED 2X technology, Full HD+ resolution and 120 Hz refresh rate. All other models have some OLED panel type, and with the exception of the iPhone 15 and Pixel 7a, support 120 Hz rate.
Although it loses points in screen fluidity, the iPhone 15 has the highest pixel density in comparison with 460 ppi. The frontal use is not so advantageous, since the Galaxy S23 FE, Edge 40 Neo, Xiaomi 12T, POCO F5, Pixel 7a and realme 11 Pro Plus have a discreet hole to house their front cameras.
For those looking for a cell phone that is highly resistant to water and dust, the best options are the Galaxy S23 FE, iPhone 15 and Edge 40 Neo, as they are the only ones certified with IP68. The Pixel 7a is not far behind and offers IP67 protection, supporting less time underwater. The Xiaomi 12T and POCO F5 are only protected against splashing water.
Hardware
The wave of cell phones with proprietary chips is getting stronger, and in the “almost top of the line” segment, the scenario is no different. The Galaxy S23 FE is powered by the Exynos 2200 — the same platform that powered the Galaxy S22 in 2022. Another model with custom hardware is the Pixel 7a, powered by the Tensor G2.
The iPhone 15, in turn, features the A16 Bionic “inherited” from the iPhone 14 Pro. The other devices feature high-performance platforms from Qualcomm and MediaTek. The POCO F5’s Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 2 stands out for featuring a more complex core architecture clocked at up to 2.91 GHz, matching Apple’s chip.

Most modern Android cell phones feature versions starting at 8 GB of RAM, and the Galaxy S23 FE aligns with this industry trend, although other models in the same segment are sold with options that reach 12 GB, such as the realme 11 ProPlus. The iPhone 15 is the only one that maintains the 6 GB RAM configuration.
The Galaxy S23 FE features a 4,500 mAh battery, maintaining the capacity of its predecessor and surpassing that of the iPhone 15 and Pixel 7a. All other devices are equipped with 5,000 mAh batteries and stand out in terms of recharging power. The Xiaomi 12T, for example, supports 120 W, while the Samsung cell phone is limited to 25 W.
Cmeras
The Galaxy S23 FE features a new 50 MP main camera that supports video recording in up to 8K, surpassing all other models in the comparison, which are limited to 4K. Although it has a 10 MP front camera — compared to 32 MP on the Galaxy S21 FE’s front camera — the sensor is capable of recording videos in 4K @ 60 FPS, just like the iPhone 15.
Samsung’s affordable top features a wide-angle lens with a 12 MP sensor, but its highlight is the telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and 8 MP sensor, which guarantees a significant advantage in distance photography. None of its rivals have this feature, so zoomed captures may not impress.

The Galaxy S23 FE is now available in Brazil with suggested prices starting at R$3,999, which is close to the range of most premium cell phones on the national market, that is, between R$2,000 and R$4,000.
