The Tour et Taxis site currently under real estate development in Brussels should have two schools by 2030, Education Alderwoman Faouzia Hariche (PS) indicated on Monday at the end of the day.
She was questioned by Mathias Vanden Borre (N-VA) who expressed his fears of seeing the commitment made towards such achievements, in the majority agreement, not respected despite a real need, while hundreds of housing units have already been built on this vast site.
According to Ms. Hariche, the City of Brussels acquired two contiguous plots of land from the Port of Brussels and Extensa for the construction of a Dutch-speaking primary school and a French-speaking secondary school on the site for a total of 2,742 millions of euros.
“If all goes well, we can have these two sites to inaugurate in 2030 at the end of the permitting, contract award and construction procedures,” added Faouzia Hariche. According to this, the award of the two works contracts should take place in 2027-2028.
