The foldable smartphone market is expected to witness some changes in the coming years, according to a report published by supply chain consultancy DSCC.
During the last quarter of 2023, total sales of foldable smartphones reached about 4.2 million units, an increase of 33% compared to the same period in 2022.
The best-selling phones were: Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5, Huawei Mate X3, Honor Magic Vs2, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, and Oppo Find N3 Flip.
Samsung won four places on the list of the ten best-selling devices, compared to two places for Honor and Oppo and one place for each of Huawei and Xiaomi.
Samsung maintained its leadership in the foldable smartphone market, even though sales of the Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5 were below expectations.
This lull in sales of Samsung devices will allow Huawei to overtake Samsung in the foldable smartphone market for the first time, according to the DCSS report.
Huawei’s success will depend mainly on its Mate
It is worth noting that Samsung has maintained its position on the list of companies with the highest sales in the foldable devices market since 2019 until now, outperforming all competitors.
