FW-Langthaler: Introduction of a new subject for vocational orientation in Lower Austria!

Vienna/St. Polten (OTS) – In view of the shortage of skilled workers and the importance of the regional economy, we are committed to a new subject for career orientation, including an understanding of regionality and finance.

The Liberal Economy is aware that many students have difficulties deciding on a profession or an apprenticeship. It is therefore important to introduce careers orientation from the 5th grade onwards, in which pupils have the opportunity for an hour a week to get to know different job profiles over the years and to be able to better orientate themselves. At the same time, they should also develop an understanding of regionality and finances in order to be as well prepared as possible for their professional future.

The Liberal Economy is committed to introducing this subject in all schools, including middle schools and general secondary schools (AHS). Let’s work together to ensure that pupils understand the importance of the regional economy and the responsible handling of finances at an early stage and can more easily decide on a job or an apprenticeship.

Reinhard Langthaler, state chairman of the liberal economy, emphasizes: “It is important to us that schoolchildren receive solid career orientation at an early age in order to be able to make well-founded decisions for their professional future. With a new subject for career orientation, including understanding for regionality and finances, we would like to help you to start your professional future well prepared.”

The Liberal Economy is calling on the Lower Austrian Chamber of Commerce to actively ensure that this subject is introduced in all schools, including middle schools and general secondary schools (AHS). The introduction of a new subject for vocational orientation with a focus on regionality and financial education is seen as an important step in offering schoolchildren a solid foundation for their professional future.
