G. Nausėda will discuss the war in Ukraine, the situation in the Middle East, the economy with EU leaders | Business

The two-day special Council of European Leaders is organized by Belgium, which currently holds the EU presidency.

The leaders will discuss the situation in the Middle East following last week’s unprecedented Iranian attack on Israel. Tehran has fired more than 300 missiles and drones into the Jewish state in what it says is revenge for a deadly drone strike on its consulate in Damascus.

Almost all rockets and drones were shot down before reaching Israel. This attack was condemned by most countries of the world. The EU called on all countries to exercise “maximum restraint” and declared its full commitment to contributing to the de-escalation of the situation and ensuring regional security.

At the meeting, the leaders will also discuss the situation in Ukraine, where Russia has recently targeted the energy infrastructure.

EU leaders will also pay attention to relations with Turkey.

On Thursday, it is planned to discuss the Community economy: the strengthening of European production, industry, neutralizing the climate, the possibilities of the digital and circular economy, the union of capital markets, competitive, sustainable and resilient agriculture.

During the special meeting of the EWC, the Communities will also attend the reception of the King of Belgium.
