GABON/ African Climate Week from August 29 to September 2, 2022 in Libreville

Libreville, August 28, 2022 – From August 29 to September 2, 2022, Gabon is hosting the third in the series of Regional Climate Weeks 2022 (ACW 2022), Africa Climate Week, in Libreville.

Hosted by the Gabonese government, it is organized in partnership with UN Climate, and with the collaboration of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), the World Bank (WBG), African Union (AU), African Development Bank and United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA).

The event aims to bring together governments, non-governmental organizations, stakeholders and members of civil society around the implementation of regional actions in the fight against climate change. More than 1,000 participants are expected face-to-face and others remotely, including political leaders from Central African countries, business leaders, representatives of international and sub-regional organizations and institutions.

For five (5) days, it will therefore be a question for the parties present to discuss the implementation of the decisions taken at COP 26, in particular on adaptation, mitigation, financing, and to prepare participation in COP 27 to be held in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt in November this year.

Remember that the Regional Climate Weeks are discussion platforms for regional climate action and collaboration around a common objective, which is the fight against climate change.
