Gabon: the province of Ogooué-Ivindo organizes its seasonal market in the capital

#Gabon : On the initiative of the Association of Committed Women of the G6, the seasonal market for nationals of the province of Ogooué-Ivindo (north-east) is setting up its stands in the grounds of the town hall of the 6th arrondissement of Libreville.

This exhibition, which is spread over several days, highlights the empowerment efforts of women in Ogooué-Ivindo and promotes local artisanal products. In this period of emerging from the socio-economic crisis due to the Covid-19 pandemic, women are trying everything to improve their daily lives.

The esplanade of the town hall of Nzeng-Ayong is home to stalls offering various products, from agri-food to clothing, including recyclable and biodegradable packaging and local drinks. The aim is to help visitors better discover the province, especially since it is considered one of the most cosmopolitan in the country.

“We have several ethnic groups in Ogooué-Ivindo. This province is not only large in size, it is also large in culture. The particularity of this edition is that it includes the performance of local artists. We expect a lot of people, ”says Melia Melogo, member of the organizing committee of the G6 market (abbreviation designating Ogooué-Ivindo, sixth province of Gabon).

These exhibitions also give producers from other localities the opportunity to present their know-how. “You can create a network between co-ops and provincial businesses, and if there’s good communication, people will come. Let the Gabonese come and see what we know how to do today”, says Léonie Adjaïe, president of the MAS and Family agricultural cooperative in the province of Ngounié (southern Gabon).
