Atal’s political journey began during the 2012 presidential election campaign. Atal’s talent thus attracted the attention of Emmanuel Macron. Macron recognized his talent. Atal worked as an advisor to the French Minister of Health for five years.

In 2017, Gabriel Attal was elected the youngest member of the French National Assembly at the age of 28. In 2018, at the age of 29, he was appointed as a junior minister in the Department of Education and Youth Affairs. Atler also served as government spokesperson under Prime Minister Jean Casteaux from 2020 to 2022 during the Covid pandemic. He was elected as the Minister of Education in 2023.
