O iPhone 15 Pro Max once again showed its superiority in autonomy, surpassing the competitor Galaxy S23 Ultra. Even with the larger battery of the South Korean device, Apple’s smartphone managed to maintain its leadership position.
The test, conducted by the YouTube channel PhoneBuff, subjected both companies’ most expensive devices to a series of rigorous experiments to determine their capabilities. In total, there were five tests.
In the first test, after a one-hour call, the iPhone 15 Pro Max maintained 100% of its battery, while the Galaxy S23 Ultra dropped to 97%. Although the iPhone led at this stage, subsequent tests balanced the competition.
While browsing the web, both smartphones were subjected to intense load, which resulted in both reaching a battery capacity of 79%, demonstrating that their performances were similar.
In the Instagram test and during a 16-hour standby period, the Galaxy S23 Ultra was able to close the performance gap due to the combination of its larger battery, efficient chipset, and software improvements.
The Galaxy S23 Ultra briefly led during some gaming sessions, but the iPhone 15 Pro Max managed to make up ground with consistent performance in the Spotify playlist test.
In the end, the iPhone 15 Pro Max came back in the running in the Snapchat test, demonstrating its durability and eventually matching the results. Finally, when the Galaxy S23 Ultra finally turned off, the iPhone 15 Pro Max still had 6% of its charge remaining.
Despite the Galaxy S23 Ultra having a larger battery, the test shows that the Apple device — with the integration of hardware and software — maintains great performance in terms of battery life.
