The Galaxy S24 Ultra is scheduled to be launched at the beginning of next year and, until then, a lot of water will flow and, with it, a lot of speculation and leaks. What’s new this time are the device’s camera specifications.
For the past three years, Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S series phones have offered a 10MP telephoto camera with 10x optical zoom. All Ultra models since the S21 have a maximum 10x optical zoom. However, Samsung may reduce this number since, according to tipster Ice Universe, the Galaxy S24 Ultra has a 50MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom.
The device also comes with a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. This way, there will be a downgrade do zoom 10x optical to 5x optical zoom on the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
The Galaxy S24 Ultra’s 50MP telephoto camera uses a 1/2.52-inch sensor with 0.7μm pixels —something similar to the telephoto found on the Xiaomi 13 Ultra, which has 3.2x optical zoom.
Among other features, the device will have a 200MP ISOCELL HP2X primary camera sensor with OIS, a 12MP ultrawide camera with autofocus, and a 12MP selfie camera.
Regarding other specs, it is rumored to feature a 6.8-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with 120Hz refresh rate and 2,500 nits peak brightness, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, 16GB of RAM and up to 2TB of storage. It is powered by a 5,000mAh battery that supports up to 45W fast charging. Other features could include a titanium frame, two-way emergency satellite connectivity, and an IP68 rating.

This new sensor will probably bring Super Quad Phase Detection autofocus, 8K video recording and 30 FPS and modes with 16-1 (12) and 4-1 (50 MP). Unfortunately, Ice Universe did not provide any more information about him.
A few days ago, a rumor cited that the Galaxy S24 Ultra will use an improved 50-megapixel telephoto sensor with 1/2.52 and 0.7µm pixels. It will feature 3x optical zoom and optical image stabilization, resulting in a relevant leap in quality compared to the Galaxy S23 Ultra.

The other improvements in the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s camera quality may only come through software and processing improvements. No information was revealed about the cameras on the Galaxy S24 or Galaxy S24 Plus.
