The Galaxy Z Fold 5 is Samsung’s most advanced cell phone for its 2023 lineup and comes with the proposal to be the most complete and full of features. Its problem is the hefty price tag that goes beyond the Galaxy S23 Ultra. Is it worth it?
Visually little has changed with Samsung’s new foldable. The main novelty is the new hinge that reduces the gap between the two halves of the device. The edges were slightly reduced and with that we have a more compact device. The crease in the middle of the display is still quite apparent and the under-display camera is still noticeable in direct light.
The 7.6-inch internal screen features a Dynamic AMOLED panel with strong brightness and great colors. The external 6.2-inch display doesn’t disappoint either and we have strong brightness and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The stereo sound has good power and well-balanced sound quality.
The Fold 5 comes with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in its turbocharged version that debuted exclusively on the Galaxy S23 line. Additionally, there is 12GB of RAM to ensure a great multitasking experience. It did well in all the games we tested, but we noticed that the device heats up more, which shows that it doesn’t come with the same dissipation system as the others from Samsung.
The battery is the same as before, but with more efficient hardware it yielded more in our test. Recharging time is still slow, as is standard with any Samsung cell phone with 25W charging. The photographic set has not changed and makes good pictures, despite not being Samsung’s best at this point. The camera under the screen is still weak for selfies, however you can use the rear set.
The Galaxy Z Fold 5 has not brought so many changes to justify the investment, especially now at launch with its price above R$ 10,000. Either way, it’s still a great foldable phone and you can check out all the details in our full review below:
