Gallant: We have completed preparations to respond to any scenario regarding Iran

Israel – Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant said on Sunday that the defense system had completed its preparations to respond to “any scenario that develops against Iran,” days after the latter announced that the consular section of its embassy in Damascus had been subjected to an Israeli attack.

This came at the conclusion of an assessment of the situation conducted by Gallant at the headquarters of the Ministry of Defense in Tel Aviv with the head of the Operations Division of the Israeli army, Major General Oded Bashiok, and the head of the Intelligence Division (Security), Major General Aharon Haliva.

This comes in light of Israeli preparedness for an Iranian response to the assassination of a number of Revolutionary Guard officials in Damascus, according to the Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth.

Gallant said in a brief statement: “The defense system has completed preparations to respond to any scenario that develops against Iran.”

In an attempt to calm the panic among the Israelis, Gallant said on Friday that “preparedness and vigilance are not synonymous with panic and fear.”

He added during his visit to the air base in “Tel Nof” (centre) at the time: “The enemy was subjected to severe strikes everywhere, and therefore he is looking for ways to respond – we are prepared with a multi-layered defense.”

On the evening of April 1, Iran announced that the consular section of its embassy in Damascus had been attacked by an Israeli missile. While the Iranian Revolutionary Guard reported the killing of 7 of its members, including the prominent leader of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Mohammad Reza Zahedi.

While Israeli Army Radio denied targeting the Iranian embassy building, it claimed that it bombed a building adjacent to it that “served as the military headquarters of the Revolutionary Guard.”
