The Ground Self-Defense Force Itatsuma Garrison (Gotemba City, Shizuoka Prefecture) announced on the 23rd that it had dismissed two 18-year-old male self-defense officer candidates belonging to the 34th Infantry Regiment for possession of cannabis. .

According to the garrison, one man had cannabis on April 13 and the other on April 24.

The two tested positive for marijuana in a urine test before enlistment in April. Although they have enlisted, they are not allowed to participate in activities such as training.

After an investigation by the Ground Self-Defense Forces Police Force, the two men admitted to possessing and using them before enlistment. In an interview, he said, “There were still things I used out of curiosity before I enlisted.”

Katsuki Mizuno, captain of the 34th Infantry Regiment, commented, “We will try not to cause such incidents.”
