Main DIRECTOR (Dirut) of Garuda Indonesia Irfaniaputra spoke about the statement by the Business Competition Supervisory Commission (KPPU) which asked seven airlines, including Garuda, not to increase ticket prices significantly or unreasonably ahead of the 2024 Eid homecoming. “We never increase (ticket) prices,” said Irfan when contacted by Media Indonesia, Saturday (16/3).

He admitted that the airline tickets sold by Garuda did not exceed the upper limit tariff (TBA) provisions regulated in the Decree of the Minister of Transportation Number KM 106 of 2019 concerning Upper Limit Tariffs for Economy Class Services for Domestic Scheduled Commercial Air Transport.

“Our plane ticket prices are according to TBA. We will always comply with government regulations,” concluded Irfan.

He added that to welcome the 2024 Eid holiday, the national airline and its subsidiary, Citilink, are even offering special offers in the form of discounts of up to 75% for a number of flight routes to Jakarta through the Eid to Jakarta promotional program. Separately, the KPPU asked the seven airlines that had been reported not to increase ticket prices significantly or unreasonably ahead of the 2024 Eid homecoming. These airlines are PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero), Tbk, PT Citilink Indonesia, PT Sriwijaya Air, PT Nam Air, PT Batik Air, PT Lion Mentari, and PT Wings Abadi.

“KPPU requests that the seven (airlines) who are reported not increase prices without rational reasons,” said KPPU Chairman M. Fanshurullah Asa in an official statement, quoted on Saturday (16/3).
