Gas Leak Emergency in Alleur: Highway Closure and Evacuations

2023-08-23 17:21:05

A major gas leak mobilized emergency services, police and firefighters on Tuesday morning in Alleur. The leak was caused by work at the Ravel under the motorway bridge. “We have triggered the municipal emergency phase and closed the highway entrances and exits as a precaution”, explains the mayor of Ans, Grégory Philippin. Nearby businesses were evacuated. “The leak was in a medium-pressure pipe. The Resa services intervened quickly, as did the Liège firefighters. The leak is now under control, there is no longer any danger”, adds the mayor.

The municipal alert phase has been lifted. Only a security perimeter on the rue de l’Informatique, du Progrès and du Vicinal was maintained.
